HEXA FOOD has been producing herbs, spices, and seasoning products since 2007. Their workers spend a lot of time trying to differentiate between the good and bad chilies and sorting out only good chilies for producing spice blends. Manual chili sorting requires a lot of manpower and time, and different sorting standards result in inconsistent quality.
AI-Assisted Chili Sorting
HEXA FOOD won the second place award in the Enterprise 50 (E50) organized by SME Corp. Malaysia. In order to remain competitive, HEXA FOOD has embarked on a journey of digital transformation. HEXA FOOD set up an online concept store and established an IoT team to study how to apply AI, big data, and IoT technologies to intelligent production. This IoT team builds and trains a chili identification model on HUAWEI CLOUD ModelArts. This trained model was then deployed on the intelligent device Atlas 500 at the edge. The image recognition technology of Atlas 500 quickly and accurately identifies the quality of chilies and intelligently distinguishes the good chilies from the bad, improving the production efficiency and quality of the spices.
